Activists linked to from / Activistas de
Occupy London, Occupy Nijmegen, Occupy Amsterdam, 15M Spain, 15O, GlobalMay, Blockupy, …umsGanze!/M31 (European day of Action against crisis and capitalism), GlobalNoise mobs, Agora Roma.

This workshop will bring together activists who are involved in the global movement and mobilizations at the local, national, and international levels in order to reflect upon the experiences of collaboration between horizontal assemblies and networks within the movement, as well as with less horizontal collectives, political groups, trade unions and networks of civil society  who showed solidarity with the movement. The objective is to evaluate what worked, what didn’t, what risks were involved and what can we do to overcome those risks; as well as proposals on what can be improved when collaborating amongst the networks within the movement and in order to develop a working methodology for colloborations with more vertically organised actors either at local and national levels, within transnational spaces like Agora 99, Firenze 10+10, WSF or other occasions on the Road to Dignity (i.e. working on a larger common actions and mobilizations on debt, democracy and rights, or regional or global strkes etc.). Outcomes of the workshop will be presented to the International Assembly in form of a proposal to communicate within the movement and with the networks, groups, individuals participating in Firenze 10+10 and WSF spaces.

Part 1: Linking networks within the movement (90 min).

  • Participants will make short interventions max (3 min) focusing on the positive experiences:  What we had/have working really well to coordinate ourselves and communicate among local, national, regional and international networks.
  • Suggestion of things to improve: What would make the movement better, stronger, more flexible and efficient and expand to Africa and Asia.
Examples: Working on a file of successful tools, audio-visual materials (also to re-use), tactics,.. etc. from last year in order to build an online tool to pool them together, or strengthen communication channels (interoccupy, occupythecomms)?

Part 2. Linking with networks outside the movement (60 min.)

  • Participants will make short interventions (max 3 min.) focusing on:   What worked / didn’t work in thier own experience in collaboration between horizontal assemblies and less horizontal collectives, political groups, and more vertical forms like trade unions and networks of civil society organizations at local, national, and / or international level for coordination or organization of solidarity / mobilization / action.

Part 3: Working on a proposal (30 min.)

  • Based on the interventions in the first and second parts, we will identify what works and what can be done to develop truly democratic methodologies for collaboration (assembly of assemblies, liquid democracy, P2P democracy, ..etc.) between varying forms of collectivities.

Parte 1: Uniendo redes dentro del movimiento (90 min.)

  • a. Intervenciones breves (max.

The aim of the meeting is to talk about what we are doing after Agora99:
There were different position about concentrating in few action or network local to global actions using #via22
Road to dignity
pad call for action of mariangela
Proposal: As communication tools
1. Take the squares list information, please join the Internation discussion and updates about the movement in Europe and USA
Squares mailing list
or email the adminitrators
use  #via22 as the means to connect local action in a global network
The aim is to organize LOCAL creative actions on an agreed day of the month, and connect for a few minutes to other assemblies using mumble or streaming or skype in order to feel the magic of connecting whit other groups in the world
And that is how, very easily your local action becomes global (with the aid of every one)
The  idea of #Via22 gives the possibility to do both at the same time: it is  possible to do a local action connected some way to the global sphere,  if many assemblies agree on doing their action on the same day and  connect to other assemblies using mumble or streaming.
This  of course depends on changing our concept of “mobilization” open our  minds to creativity and not obsess with huge masses of people marching  on the street (people that will go back home empty handed), instead let groups of people to CREATE alternatives  (economic, social, cultural) for the neihgborhood/community
3. Mumble information
Mumble is a tool for connecting via voice and chat in order to hold meetings
To connect you have to download the program, install it in the computer, then you set up the server, there are at least 4 servers used by the movement, you choose the server (provided at meeting calls) and then you channel (the room where groups of interest meet)
4. data base of actions and how to connect local
response to this proposal: there is a wiki open that there is no need to register in order to edit
For me also very important holding regular meetinngs
we also have/feed mailing lists
proposal: to develop a  draft text reflecting identified communication tools and strategies what  work within the Occupy movement, those that can be used/offered/put  forward to develop truly  democratic/horizontal methodologies for  collaboration (assembly of assemblies,  liquid democracy, P2P democracy,  ..etc.) between varying forms of  collectivities (unions, NGOs, Wgs,  Peoples assemblies, collectives, hubs, sectors, social movements,  fundations, etc).
  • Florence 10+10:
proposal of organizing an assembly in Florence outside Fortezza on saturday eve at 18 pm. It is very important to show our way. There is a different approch between our movement and the forum organizer about democracy. People involved in Occupy/15M are practising direct democracy to going beyond capitalism. This approch about democracy has to be heard. It’s not  a confrontation. The problem is the official vertical structure of the meetig in Florence. You need to be three organization in order to propose the workshop. From Rome there will be people going if there is an assembly on alternatives and experiences. This assembly could be important also for ecoing this methodologies in Italy where there isnt a movement like that. It is important to show that we dont need leadership. It will be important to have a big support and a good dinamization. There is also the possibility not to pay in the forum
Lets decide for a Friday meeting in Florence to prepare the assembly on Saturday
We are having a meeting at 10,30 in Sol this Sunday 4th of November en el Oso del madroño
There  is already a mailing list to organize the assembly in Flirence and connect with the WSF in Tunis
  • World social forum in march
It has been proposed to participate to this forum as well. We have to break the way the forums are organized.
  • world Social Forum Palestine 28th of November 2012 : it will be important to follow the Forum. There it will be streaming and spread the conclusions
  • In the strike, as this one on the 14th  we could participate as a critical block showing our differences also suggesting System strikes where all people could be involved and not only workers (consume strike, …)  Let’s bring this proposal to Florence
  • proposal of sharing our knowledge and our experiences (for istance what others have done on elections) using the comunication tools we have.
  • Proposal: European Convergence around the G8 8-15th June 2013/ Blockupy
proposal: Not only about date but also talking about solutions.
– Agora Meeting the week before G8; quite similar to 99Agora Madrid
– Participate in the G8 activities (whatever they may look like, its not decided about any concrete actions)
– Intervention against this idea: focusing our forces on events like G8 summit puts us in a difficult position – there will be much repression (“police laboratory”) and gives the state opportunity to use force against the movement
– G8 is not the main player in the european and global austerity regime we are facing, it is more important to identify and target the institutions responsible
Blockupy 2013/2014
– nationwide mobilization in 2013
– european convergence in spring 2014 when the leaders of the eurozone will meet to reopen the new building of the european central bank (ECB or BCE) in Frankfurt
General Discussion:
– we need the places and opportunities to build up counter-power on an international level, thats what all actions should be based upon
– the system we want to overcome is organized transnationally, we have to overcome the national borders of groups and movements, this is why we have to organize international events and meetings where the movements and groups can assemble
– for not only mobilizing ourselves (the activists), but the people in general we have to organize strong events in a twofold sense: it needs to be a strong narrative and we need to be sincere about our actions (for example: blocking all the EU buildings in all capitals at the same time)
– we need not only to demonstrate against something, but be constructive in a way (e.g. organize a meeting and work on proposals and solutions)
– we need to identify common needs and common perspectives in our different positions: so the question we are facing is: how do we organize on a transnational level; this can be achieved by choosing common demands at common dates (like at the european strike on 14th of November) and choosing
– we need to focus on a new type of activists, who organize events and protests but also connect the problems we face with the solutions we can propose; on a global level
– one point about the 14th november strike: it will be difficult to form a mutual message, because the unions organizing the strike are very far from the 15m movement, for example
– building up a power from below is not only about communication and information, its about the structure of the power of the enemy, who is organized internationally and has no problem whatsoever to respond to any of our actions. therefore we need to speed up the process of organizing ourselves and set strong points as a movement.
Everyone agrees we need spaces to work on common perspectives and organization on an international level, we need to organize events (like Blockupy or Summits like G8….) to create those spaces
